Setting up your email in Apple Mail

One of the most popular questions we get asked here at Method, is how to set-up an email account… Well we are answering that call, and starting with Apple’s Mail. We hope to add other email clients over the next few weeks.

1. Firstly select Preferences from the Mail menu.

2. Click the + icon to create a new account.

3. In the Add Account window, enter your full name, email address and email password. Click Continue.

4. In the Incoming Mail Server screen, select POP from the Account Type list, and enter your information as follows:

Description
Enter the name of your account.

Incoming mail server (POP3)
This can be a number of different combinations, please check with your hosting company.
If you are using Method or Simple Servers it will be mail.yourdomain.co.uk

User Name
Enter your email address.

Password
Enter the password you set up for your email account.

Click Continue.

5. On the Incoming Mail Security select Password for Authentication, then click Continue.

6. In the Outgoing Mail Server screen enter your information as follows:

Description
Enter the name for this mail server (e.g. outgoing mail).

Outgoing mail server
Type smtp.yourdomain.co.uk and check the Use only this server box.

Use Authentication
Check the Use Authentication box and type your User Name and Email Address.
Click Continue.

That’s it… You have now added an email account to Mail.
